Details

The TY-054 is a light-grey motor with a squarish flange and four arm-like mounting projections, plus a long shaft rising from the top of a round hub. Its four-arm layout creates a wide, square mounting footprint, which makes it well suited to air handling equipment with rectangular frames, such as commercial refrigeration condensers, ventilation boxes, drying cabinets and cooling units for machinery. The arms are drilled with generous slotted holes that accommodate various frame spacings, an advantage when the same motor must serve several models or replace older units in the field. The long shaft is the other distinguishing feature: with extra length available above the motor body, it can carry large fan wheels, spacers, blade hubs with set screws, or even a pair of impellers stacked on the same shaft. This is valuable for applications in which the blade must sit well clear of the motor, or where the airflow path requires the fan to sit at a particular height inside a duct. The motor's body is finished in neutral, textured paint that hides scratches and withstands cleaning chemicals. Inside, a robust winding and bearing system provides steady output, with slightly higher torque than our small plastic-shell models. As an additional benefit, the arms keep the motor body away from the mounting surface, leaving an air gap that helps to carry away heat and reduces vibration transmission to the panel. We can adjust the shaft length and diameter, add flats or keyways, and select between sleeve and ball bearings. Voltage, power and speed can be selected, and thermal protection and capacitors are available. Unlike the circular plate of the ty-053, the ty-054 allows airflow around the motor through the open spaces between its arms, which suits designs where air must flow past the motor to cool it.
